The 2026 Test Guide and Rules will be published at the end of July. You must review this document before registering because it contains the official rules, procedures and test policies.

General Rules: What Every Test Taker Should Know

Mobile Devices

Mobile phones and all camera-equipped electronic devices must remain completely OFF from check-in until every test section has ended and the proctor releases candidates, including during breaks. Any device found switched on will result in immediate disqualification, regardless of whether it was used, made a sound or vibrated.

Misconduct and Invalidation of Results

If misconduct is suspected or the integrity of the test is questioned, the Japan Foundation may invalidate scores, including past results, refuse to issue a result notification and/or prohibit the candidate from taking future tests.

Registration is expected to open in stages by level and region in mid-August. Details will be published at the end of July.

A Minor Consent Form is required for all candidates under the age of 18 taking the JLPT at the Istanbul test centre. The form will be uploaded to this page soon.

Test date: Sunday, 6 December 2026

Test voucher: Instructions for downloading your voucher will be published here in early November.

Exam-day information: A PDF for each test centre, including the venue, room allocation and schedule, will be published in early November.

Check-in begins at approximately 12:00 and ends at 13:00. The test will be held at Istanbul Bilgi University, Kuştepe Campus. The finishing time varies by level.
